Wednesday

Trent's BMT went very well last night.
They started early and received a "large" bag/gift/donation from Trent's donor. May God bless the donor for his gift!
They started around 9:30pm and got done after 11pm. Big bag!
The doctors and nurses said that the donor did not have his "harvest" done through the hip. This harvest was done through a IV, into a centrifuge where the stem cells were collected, then the remaining cells were returned to the donor in another IV. This is common when collecting from a adult. The collection takes 4 to 5 hours.
Trent was very sleepy during the BMT. He was given Benadryl as a pre-medicine for the BMT and that makes him tired. He also had the chills. The donation was still cool from being in a cooler during transportation.
Trent's main nurse studied under Dr. Robert Good, who performed the first bone marrow transplant in 1968. She was very educational during the whole evening.
Thanks for all the prayers! This has been quite a blessing and there is many weeks of recovery left, but it nice to have the chemo and radiation behind us.
