Tuesday = BMT Day!

Well, day is the day for the bone marrow transplant.
We are very excited and very optimistic. God is with us.
Trent has been dealing with some of the effects of radiation, but looked in very good spirits yesterday.

The transplant is scheduled for 10pm tonight, but the doctor said yesterday that it could be anytime after 10pm. Those guys at CHOC are never in any big hurry, and that's OK. They have many kids with some really big needs. When you pray for Trent today, please add a little prayer for all the kids at CHOC and the donor too! After 15 months of dealing with cancer, we have seen so many kids/familys that have lots of challenges. We have also seen some people with some really big hearts, the doctors, nurses, our donor and Trent's teacher's, Liz and Brent, have all gone out of their way to care for Trent particular needs. Our family, friends and church family continues to provide meals, prayers and support so that we are never alone during this challenge. Our God has always been with us every step of the way and we are encouraged by His constant presence.

The BMT recovery will take several weeks so please pray for Trent's body to take in his transplant and recover without rejection.

Monday

Trent is done with chemo!
Trent is done with radiation!
The bone marrow transplant is tomorrow.
The transplant is scheduled for 10pm.
Please pray that donor has a peaceful next couple of days. I pray that the pain will be minimal for him.
He is a male and 41 years old. That's all we know.
We will not know him for a least one year and only if both parties consent, will we get to meet him.
Please pray that Trent's body will accept this gift and allow it to operate.
Trent has always been and will always be in God's hands!

Sunday

Trent is done with radiation.
He started chemo yesterday and the last dose will be today.
So after today, I believe he is completely done with chemo. Forever! May God bless what has been done!
Trent got a little sick last night and maybe once or twice this week, but all in all, he's done well by staying active by walking around CHOC and keeping a good attitude.
Tomorrow Trent will start a medication that will help the effects of transplant.
Today is day 2.

Thursday

Trent had two sessions of full body radiation yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The treatments give him a headache, but the nurses gave him medication for that.
He deals with it by taking naps and staying quiet. He's doing OK.
He'll finish up the radiation on Friday, then two days of chemo on Sat and Sun.
We are at day 5.

Tuesday

Trent has been doing well.
I don't think he is getting used to the new chemo as much as having it delivered over 8 hours versus 4 hours has helped him tolerate it better.
Trent and his teacher are all set up to Skype the classes that Trent needs to keep him going in his senior year.
Trent's teacher is just a great person who has done many work-arounds to keep Trent's classes schedule going.
She is willing to even work through the holidays to keep Trent on track.
We are now at day 7.

Sunday

Trent had a challenging day on Friday.
He got a new set of tubes installed and they started a type of chemo.
It was delivered too fast and Trent got the shakes/chills and got sick. They were also trying to do a ultrasound at the same time. And he was hook up to heart rate and blood pressure monitors.
One of the doctors came in and stopped the ultrasound, stopped the chemo and waited until the chills stopped.
They restarted the chemo at a slower pace and Trent was able to tolerate that rate.
Saturday he seemed more stable and was sleeping most of the day.
Today is day 9, I think, so he still has lots of chemo and body radiations prior to transplant.
Please pray that Trent stays comfortable during these next several days.

Friday

Trent checked into CHOC this morning.
The countdown has begun. This is day 11.
He'll get another IV tube implanted and a stomach ultrasound is scheduled for this afternoon.
Trent got thru radiation this week with no ill effects.
He was in good spirits last night.
